Insanium – 1st Semester Project

Student project for designing an asymmetrical multiplayer experience.

The purpose of the project was to develop a game built around multiplayer functionality that would incorporate asymmetrical gameplay. In this sense, multiple players should be able to play the game at the same time, but would have differing ways of acting within the game.

The product of this project was the game Insanium, a cooperative platforming game with puzzle elements. Two players would cooperatively navigate various stages by controlling two player characters; a vaporous ghost and a fire breathing asylum patient. Each character held abilities that would allow them to overcome certain obstacles that the other could not, which allowed for players to cooperatively complete the game.
